Ross's junior rowers won 12 medals in the Welsh indoor championships |
Ross Rowing Club's junior academy enjoyed a record-breaking day at the Welsh indoor rowing championships. Coach Graham Watling was delighted with the performances, which yielded five gold medals, as well as one silver and six bronze. "It was great see so many of the new academy members competing in this event and doing so well," he said. "The medal haul was terrific with the majority of squad members achieving personal bests." Megan Jephcote again led the way for the south Herefordshire squad as she broke through the 500-metre barrier for the first time in her two-minute row. In the Wj13 category the club took the clean sweep across the medals as Catrin Morris won gold, Jess Crossman a silver and Rosie Ingram the bronze. In the boys J13 event Johan Lai and Nick Burden both continued their excellent form as who both won gold. The final gold medal was won by the youngest member of the competing squad, Scarlett Brodholt winning in the Wj10 category. Kerry Meek was in a very competitive J15 category in which she won a bronze medal with a personal best as did Rob Hewlet in the J16 and Jess Boon in the WJ12.
