Ross rowers enjoyed a successful start to their season at Birmingham |
Ross' junior boys squad were in dominant form at Birmingham Regatta, winning five gold medals. Junior captain John Lewis told BBC Hereford & Worcester the signs for the season were very encouraging. "For our first squad regatta I am delighted with the approach and application of the development squad. "The quality of oarsmanship and support for each other throughout the day was a credit to the club," he added. There was success in the sculls in which Nick Burden took gold in the J11 class while Johan Lai and Gregory Fitz-Horswell took top honours in the J12 double sculls (division one) and Dale Kernot and George Probert in the J12 double sculls. Johan Lai, Gregory Fitz-Horswell, George Probert, Nick Burden and cox Rhodri Morris were not be outdone as they took gold in the J14 quads, while Jack Jones and Charley Green won the J14 double sculls. The girls were not out of the medals completely as cox Zoe Smith steered Megan Jephcote, Catrin Morris, Jess Crossman and Rosie Ingam to a silver medal in the J12 quads. Ross had 15 difference crews over the event and for most it was their first time at a competitive event.
