Loughborough Lightning captain Jade Clarke was left devastated after her side's defeat by Mavericks that knocked them of the Superleague play-offs. Mavericks clinched a 49-48 win in the last-minute of extra-time in Saturday's semi-final at Loughborough University. And Clarke told the Lightning website: "I'm sure it was good match for the spectators but I'm just heartbroken. "There are no excuses. We let it slip and we did the same in the final last year - it is just not acceptable." Clarke, however, said she was proud of shooter Jo Harten, who played the game with a broken thumb. "We're so proud of the way she played through the pain," added Clarke. Mavericks will now face Team Bath in the Grand Final at Coventry Skydome on Saturday.
