Corry played in England's 49-36 defeat by the Barbarians in 2003 |
Former England captain Martin Corry has been included in the Barbarians squad to play his international side. England will take on the invitational side at Twickenham on 30 May ahead of two summer Tests against Argentina. Corry is joined by All Blacks Jerry Collins and Justin Marshall, France's Serge Betsen and Australian Rocky Elsom as one of five squad members announced. "I've played against the Baa-Baas so I know what a great occasion these games can be," Leicester captain Corry said. | 606: DEBATE |
Corry retired from international rugby in January 2008 having won 64 caps and captained his country 17 times, but has continued as an integral part of the Leicester pack. The 35-year-old signed a one-year contract extension at Welford Road in April 2008 that is due to expire at the end of this season. "I feel privileged to be involved and at the prospect of pulling on that black and white jersey again and running out at a ground that means so much to me," he added. Cardiff Blues director of rugby Dai Young has been made the Barbarians coach for the match and will be assisted by Corry's former international team-mate Mike Catt. England, who will be missing players selected for the British & Irish Lions tour of South Africa, travel to Manchester to play the Pumas on 6 June before heading across the Atlantic for the return in Salta on 13 June.
