Coventry Blaze have made their first import signing of the close season after agreeing a one-year deal with Slovenian Matic Kralj.

The 28-year-old forward has Elite League experience having previously iced for Newcastle Vipers in 2009/10.

Kralj joins Blaze from French outfit Morzine-Avoriaz for whom he was top points scorer last season.

Coach Paul Thompson told BBC Coventry and Warwickshire: "He can score goals, make plays and keeps possession."

Kralj scored 72 points in 58 games for Vipers and has also plied his trade in the Central Hockey League in America.

Thompson added: "He's a big guy and has played a lot of hockey in North America and plays the North American style.

"I think he's going to take some of the pressure off [Luke] Fulghum and [Owen] Fussey.

"He'll just add that secondary scoring which we really lacked last season."
