Coventry City Ladies are celebrating after reaching the National Division of women's football after their second promotion in a year.

The Sky Blues clinched the runners-up spot in the Premier League Northern Division with a 1-0 victory at Derby.

Karen Clough scored the only goal in the 16th minute, as Paul Cudby's team took the game to the hosts.

It was City's seventh win on the spin and ensured they join champions, Aston Villa, in the National Division.

Coventry chairman Dave Singleton said: "Tonight's game and finale to the season was the stuff dreams are made of.

"We have worked for 10 years to get this far, but no one thought we would have had back-to-back promotions.

"The resilience of our players, the determination of the coaching staff and the unbelievable effort of the backroom team have made this happen and I am so very proud of them all."
