Coventry City Ladies kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over leaders Manchester City in the Premier League Northern Division.

For the second successive match the Sky Blues came from behind as Lyndsey Savage gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot in the first half.

Paul Cudby's team responded after the break with efforts from Callan Barber and Helen Dermody.

Coventry are now two points behind the table-toppers with two matches to play.

The Sky Blues do have a game in hand on the Manchester outfit but second-placed Aston Villa are a point better off and also have two matches left to play.

The top two will be promoted to the national division at the end of the season.

You could see what it meant to the players, collectively they've been wonderful and I have to say Nikki Miles was great today too

"That was a terrific result for us," said Cudby. "To come from behind once again showed the girl's character and spirit.

"We created a lot of good chances and deserved to be in front earlier.

"You could see what it meant to the players as well, collectively they've been wonderful and I have to say Nikki Miles was great today too."

Coventry are next in action on Sunday, 24 April when they host Preston North End.

Cudby added: "Preston will be very tough for us next week as they're fighting for their lives, so hopefully we can continue playing in the manner we have and get another performance."
