Hirsch returns to Blaze after a year's absence in North America |
Coventry Blaze have re-signed Danish netminder Peter Hirsch for next season following the departures of Brett Jaeger and Tom Murdy. Hirsch left the Skydome last year after helping Blaze win the Elite League but did not settle in North America. Coventry coach Paul Thompson said: "I am delighted to have signed Peter. "He loves this club and he really enjoyed his time here. I think he found the grass is not always greener and I am really pleased to have him back." Hirsch turned out for Bakersfield Condors and Pensacola Ice Flyers on the other side of the Atlantic last term. | The Blaze mindset is to win and that suits me very well |
Speaking about his return to the club, who finished sixth in the top-flight this year, the 32-year-old said: "My reasons for coming back are very simple. I want to and need to play for a team I care about. To put the Blaze shirt back on feels like the only right thing to do in the world. "The league seems to get more and more competitive every year. "I know it is going to be a tough challenge but being part of the Blaze I also know it is possible. "My aims are to do better than last time I was in Coventry. "I will break the season down for myself and try to work a little harder every day. "All in all I think the Blaze mindset is to win and that suits me very well."
