Basingstoke Bison can overturn Slough Jets says coach
Moria coached Slough Jets before joining the Bison in 2009
Basingstoke Bison player-coach Steve Moria believes his side can still beat Slough Jets to win the EPL Cup despite losing the first leg 3-2 on Wednesday.
Moria and Ondrej Lauko bagged the goals for Bison with Adam Calder, Darius Pliskauskas and former team-mate Paddy Ward scoring for the Jets.
The 41-year-old told BBC Berkshire: "Everything's to play for, we're still confident we can overturn Slough."
The second leg is at the Jets' home rink at The Hangar on 23 March.
"I'm looking forward to two weeks time, it's going to be a battle, both sides are evenly matched so the game will be tight but we can still win this cup," Moria added.
"It will come down to who is willing to dig the deepest and which team is going to play the simplest game and make the least mistakes."
Basingstoke will be confident of overturning their first-leg deficit after they lost 3-2 to Manchester Phoenix in the first stage of the EPL Cup semi-final before defeating them 6-4 on aggregate.
With 400 Bison fans expected to go to the Slough fixture, Moria believes the travelling supporters will play a vital role.
"The fans will be important especially because Slough has such a tight arena," he said.
"We had about 900 for the first leg, but we are expecting 400 fans there and I can guarantee they will be very loud.
"They will give us a good chance because they will spur us on and we need that inspiration."
