Nottingham Panthers were unable to build on Saturday's 3-1 win over Hull Stingrays as they crashed to a 6-3 defeat at Braehead Clan on Sunday. Panthers trailed 4-0 after a disastrous first period and, despite a spirited fightback, they were unable to recover. Goals from Robert Lachowicz and Rob Bellamy gave the visitors hope in the second period. But the hosts opened the scoring in the third and closed out the win despite a goal from player-coach Corey Neilson. On Saturday, Neilson's men skated to a much-needed home win over Hull. The visiting Rays took a surprise lead with seconds to play in the first period, but Panthers responded in the second, Marc Levers converting from Jade Galbraith's pass. Galbraith then turned goalscorer himself, banking a shot in from behind the net off the netminder's pads. Man-of-the-match Bellamy wrapped it up in the third with his 12th goal of the season. Panthers are next in action on Wednesday when they play their Challenge Cup semi-final first-leg fixture at Newcastle Vipers.
