 Simon Lambert celebrates with Mark Garside after completing his hat-trick
The Belfast Giants exacted revenge for Friday's defeat by Nottingham night by winning Saturday's clash 7-2 at the Odyssey Arena. Goals by Simon Lambert, Dan Welch and Colin Hemingway gave the Giants a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period. Brandon Benedict and Lambert (2) were Belfast's scorers in the second period with Rob Bellamy scoring for Panthers. Hemingway grabbed his second of the game in the third period while Danny Meyers found the net for Nottingham. On Friday night, the Giants' Elite League had taken a blow as they suffered a 3-2 shoot-out defeat by Nottingham. David-Alexandre Beauregard put Nottingham ahead in the first period and Rob Bellamy doubled the advantage. Mark Garside pulled a goal back for Belfast midway through the the final period and Simon Lambert's last-gasp strike ensured the shoot-out. But the Panthers won the shoot-out 2-1 to take the win.
