The Belfast Giants suffered a setback in their Elite League campaign as they crashed to title rivals Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey Arena on Tuesday night.

Stuart MacRae gave the visitors the lead in the first period with Jon Pelle adding two more in the second.

Scott Matzka made it 4-0 on 53.28 before Mike Bayrack pulled one back for the league leaders.

Second-placed Cardiff are now just three points behind Belfast with four matches in hand.

It was the Giants' second home defeat in three days as they lost to Braehead Clan on Sunday before beating them away on Monday.

Belfast are at home again on Thursday when they play bottom-placed Newcastle Vipers.
