Former Edinburgh Capitals forward Simon Lambert has joined the Belfast Giants.

The 27-year-old was fourth in the Elite League scoring charts last season with 34 goals and played for Edinburgh under current Giants boss Doug Christiansen.

Lambert, who most recently was with Swedish Division One outfit Olofstroms, is expected to be in the Giants team to face Edinburgh on Saturday and Sunday.

"Simon might be the fastest player I have ever played with or against. He is like lightning," said Christiansen.

"He is also a tireless worker who can definitely score. He puts opposing defencemen under pressure with his skating ability alone.

"He had a break-out season last year finishing fourth in the EIHL in scoring and is coming to Belfast looking to improve our team, which I think he does immediately."

Lambert said had been impressed with how the Giants had performed this year.

"When my situation this season was not what I expected it to be, I contacted Doug to talk about where I was standing and what his plans were for the team," he said.

"It was not too long before we got to an agreement. What the Giants have to offer at this point fits me perfectly and I am really excited to join a team at the top of the standings."
