 Mike Bayrack battles with Bruce Richardson in Sunday's game at the Odyssey
Belfast Giants regrouped from Sunday's home defeat by Braehead Clan to beat the Scottish outfit in Monday's return Elite League clash. After a goalless first period at the Braehead Arena, Brendan Cook put the Clan ahead on 30.01. Braehead were still ahead with 10 minutes remaining but Tim Cook levelled on 51.35 and Josh Prudden slotted the winner 81 seconds later. Clan had defeated the league leaders 4-2 at the Odyssey Arena on Sunday. In Sunday's clash, goals from Brendan Cook and Matt Haywood put Braehead 2-0 ahead after the first period and Jordan Krestanovich then extended their lead. Colin Shields gave the Giants hope with two goals early in the final period but Dominic Noel's goal sealed Clan's win. Monday's win keeps Belfast five points ahead of Cardiff at the top of the table. The Welsh outfit earned a 3-0 home win over Coventry on Monday night. Sheffield are also level on points with Cardiff after Monday's 5-3 win over Nottingham while Hull defeated Newcastle 7-4 in Monday's other game. A busy festive period for the Giants continues with home games against Cardiff, Newcastle and Hull on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
