Coventry Blaze failed to record back-to-back wins in the Elite League at the weekend after slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Newcastle Vipers on Sunday.

Danny Stewart, Mike Prpich and Jamie Carroll scored for the hosts with Luke Fulghum grabbing a consolation.

Blaze had won a fiery encounter with Nottingham Panthers 2-1 at the Skydome the previous night.

Sean Selmser and Dan Carlson bagged the goals in a match notable for a bench clearance in the second period.

The two teams notched up 263 penalty minutes between them.

Coventry's Brad Cruickshank received two match penalties, with Nottingham's Alex Penner receiving a match and a game misconduct.
