Dan Carlson is in his sixth season with Coventry Blaze at the Skydome

Coventry Blaze forward Dan Carlson has been handed the captain's armband in the absence of skipper Jonathan Weaver.

Weaver is expected to be out for around a month following keyhole surgery on a troublesome knee on Tuesday.

Blaze coach Paul Thompson said: "Dan is already a captain out there for us. He leads by example every night.

"Dan never takes a night off and I want players to look at him and follow his lead. We have to do that to move forward," added Thompson.
