Nottingham Panthers have signed defenceman Brock Wilson to complete their roster for the 2010/11 season.

The 25-year-old has spent much of his career in North America's East Coast Hockey League and is the son of former NHL player Rik Wilson.

Player coach Corey Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Brock has lived and breathed hockey all his life.

"The way our team is set up we needed a solid stay-at-home defenceman and that's exactly what he is."

Panthers begin their season on Saturday, 4 September with a home game against Belfast Giants.

"We have the components of a team that is going to challenge," added Neilson.

"We've got speed, we've got a ton of skill and gritty players in there. We've got guys who want to hit and fight.

"I've known Brock for so long, I used to coach him at hockey school when he was a tiny little guy and he's developed into a fantastic player.

"His dad is former NHL defenceman, Rik Wilson, who played for Chicago, St Louis and Calgary, so he has lived hockey his whole life."
