Glenn Delaney
We can beat any side as long as we are in the play-offs

Nottingham director of rugby Glenn Delaney says he will carefully plot his side's Championship campaign to ensure they peak at the time of the play-offs.

Eight of the 12 sides progress into the play-offs and Delaney believes it would be daft not to plan ahead.

Delaney told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Some teams went hammer and tongs and burnt themselves out but you have to stay the course and manage it.

"We know if we're in the play-offs and we're fit, we're a match for anybody."

Nottingham were beaten in the play-off group stages of last season's competition but Delaney is confident they will fare better this time around.

"We can beat any side as long as we are in the play-offs," he added.

"When you look at the overall scenario you need to get to the play-offs - that's the target. And then you can think about winning the thing."
