Mick Newell keen to secure home Nottinghamshire T20 tie

Mick Newell
Newell's side have won nine and tied two of their 13 FP t20 matches

Director of cricket Mick Newell says Nottinghamshire will not relax in their final three FP t20 games despite having already reached the quarter-finals.

Notts top the North Group and one more win will secure a home quarter-final.

Newell told BBC Radio Nottingham he is eager to secure home advantage. "The facts suggest we are playing better cricket at Trent Bridge," he said.

"The club want us to play at home for money, we want to for the attraction of playing in front of our home fans."

Notts face Lancashire at Old Trafford on Wednesday and Newell does not want to have to wait to secure the home tie in the final eight.

"If we win that game we cannot be taken out of the top two," Newell added.

"Then we can enjoy those final two games at Trent Bridge."

"We desperately want to get through to a home quarter-final and we believe we can get down to the Rose Bowl [for finals day] as well."
