Nottingham Panthers sign Canadian forward Dustin Sproat
Nottingham Panthers have signed forward Dustin Sproat from Cincinnati Cyclones of the East Coast Hockey League.
The 28-year-old Canadian is six feet tall and was leading scorer as his side won the play-offs last season. He can play at centre or on the wing.
Panthers coach Corey Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm excited about getting him. I've had fantastic references about him.
"He's a very good, high-end player. He's the kind of guy we want."
Sproat has also played for Reading and Fresno in his ECHL career, and appeared four times for Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League last season.
"Dustin has five years in the pros under his belt. In Cincinnati they made it to the conference finals last year and they won the Kelly Cup this year," added Neilson.
"In both campaigns Dustin led the team in play-off points, goals, and plus-minus. I can see him leading by example and making the big plays in the big games.
"He knows what's expected of him and he is relishing the challenge. He's a high energy guy and will be good value for the fans to watch."
