Woolhouse first joined Panthers in summer 2003 |
Nottingham Panthers general manager Gary Moran says departing netminder Geoff Woolhouse was a credit to the club during his seven-year association. The Sheffield-born British goalie has joined his home-town club, with Dan Green moving in the other direction to sign for the Panthers. Moran said: "He's a great guy. He rang me last week to let us know what was happening, he didn't have to do that. "He already knew he wasn't going to be on on our roster." After first joining Nottingham in the summer of 2003, Woolhouse played as back-up until the end of the 2008/09 season. | Geoff was an asset to us and a credit to himself and his family Panthers general manager Gary Moran on Geoff Woolhouse |
He made the move to the English Premier League last year, starting as netminder for Swindon, but ended the season back at Nottingham. The 25-year-old started six games towards the end of the campaign as cover for the injured Kevin St Pierre, before moving to Panthers' Elite League rivals Sheffield for the 2010/11 season. "There was talk of Geoff's return becoming more permanent but sometimes circumstances take a hand in developments," Moran added. "This happened with Dan coming to Nottingham and it has played a part in Geoff moving to a club close to home. "During his time with the Panthers Geoff was an asset to us and a credit to himself and his family and we look forward to meeting up with him again next season."
