Coventry Blaze capture left winger Owen Fussey

Coventry Blaze (Mark Tredgold)
Fussey is joining the current Elite League champions

Coventry Blaze have raided Elite League rivals Edinburgh Capitals to sign former NHL forward Owen Fussey.

Fussey netted 35 times in 46 games in his debut season north of the border and recently won the Elite League newcomer of the season title.

The 27-year-old left winger had previously played in North America and Italy before joining Caps.

Blaze beat off competition from the continent to secure Fussey's services as they rebuild their roster.

"I am very excited to be joining the Blaze," said Fussey.

"The professionalism of the team and the club is known around the league and that's a big thing for any player.

"I was also really attracted by the opportunity to play for Paul Thompson.

"He has a great reputation and over the years has continuously put together top notch teams. I really am looking forward to an exciting new season."
