Nottingham Panthers have made a double swoop with the re-signing of forward Jay Henderson and the addition of British netminder Dan Green.

Henderson, who played 33 games in the NHL with Boston, joined Panthers midway through last season, while Green has spent two years with Sheffield.

Coach Corey Neilson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "This year Jay will have more of a leadership role.

"Dan is desperate to be a Panther and those are the qualities we want."

Green has been with Sheffield since joining from Basingstoke in the summer of 2008.

He led the Steelers to the inaugural 20-20 Hockeyfest title back in October of 2009.

"I think Dan did a great job for Sheffield over the past couple of years," added Neilson.

"He's been knocking at my door for a couple of years now looking to make the move and he's got ties to Nottingham."

Henderson scored 14 points in 20 matches for the Panthers last season and was part of the Challenge Cup winning side, beating Cardiff Devils over two legs.

"I thought Jay had a lot of up sides. I think he came over and started a little slow," said Neilson.

"But in the last couple of weekends of the season I thought he really turned corners and moved the puck well.

"He's got good vision and fantastic speed and with us losing Bruce [Richardson] to Braehead, we wanted to bring in that same kind of gritty personality."
