Nottingham Panthers captain Danny Meyers says that the play-offs are always a special end to the season.

Panthers go to Edinburgh for Saturday's quarter-final first leg, before Sunday's return leg in Nottingham.

Meyers told BBC Radio Nottingham: "The excitement of the quarter-finals and the nerves is great. You can feel it with the fans.

"If we were to win the play-offs, as well as the Challenge Cup, it will be a fantastic season."

Panthers won the play-off trophy in 2007 in Meyers' first year at the club, beating Sheffield, Belfast and then Cardiff in the final.

"This will be my fourth season in the Elite League play-offs," added Meyers. "It's getting to that final four which is the main thing.

"All the fantastic victories we've had over Sheffield this year and in the past years, the one that I hold dear to me is that quarter-final play-off win in the shoot-out."

The first leg in Scotland takes place on Saturday (1800 GMT), with the return at the National Ice Centre on Sunday (1600 BST).
