Coventry Blaze have parted company with Canadian defenceman Chris Allen after only spending two months with the club. The 31-year-old played 10 games after arriving from Edinburgh in December as cover for Matt Soderstrom, who has now recovered from a broken toe. Allen asked to leave after losing his place to Soderstrom. "I do want to say thank you to head coach Paul Thompson for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Blaze," Allen told the club's website. "I have no doubt that the Blaze can go on to win the Championship." Meanwhile, Coventry have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Elite League to three points with a victory over Edinburgh Capitals at the Skydome on Wednesday. Thompson's side are playing one of their three games in hand over local rivals Nottingham Panthers. And he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "There is no easy games, they have a lot of players who are former Blaze players who will take enjoyment of beating us."
