Thompson's Coventry Blaze are second in the Elite League |
Coventry Blaze have signed Canadian defenceman Chris Allen from Edinburgh Capitals until the end of the season. Allen has played in the NHL, as well as several of the top leagues in Europe, and joins Blaze having iced in 18 games for the Capitals this season. Coventry head coach Paul Thompson says Allen brings with him one of the hardest shots in hockey. "He can take the legs off an elephant with that thing," he said. "He's going to make a good team a better team." Allen's arrival will help bolster the Blaze squad at a time when they are without injured quartet Matt Soderstrom (broken toe), Tom Watkins and Tom Ledgard (both knee), and Greg Owen (appendix).
