Richardson joined Panthers in 2008 from Wichita in America |
Two of the leading contenders for the Elite League title go head-to-head twice this weekend. Nottingham Panthers host Coventry on Saturday, before the two sides meet at the Skydome on Sunday. Panthers assistant-coach Bruce Richardson told BBC Radio Nottingham: "There's a lot of heat and we hate each other, but it's all on the ice. "Since the Team Hollywood thing happened, it's good for hockey, it's a good rivalry and it's fun to play in." Panthers are two points behind second-placed Coventry and the Blaze have three games in hand. "When you are battling for the trophy and to be top of the league, these games are always competitive," added Richardson. "Coventry are always going to be a good team and they are always well prepared. "I think Paul Thompson (Blaze coach) has prepared his team really good but we've prepared our guys really well for these two games. "Now it's up to our players to motivate themselves personally for those games and come and compete. "Knowing the system is one thing but if you are not going to compete that is when you might struggle." Blaze head-coach Paul Thompson added: "Over the years we've built up a real great rivalry there. "On the ice our games have been very competitive over the last couple of years and I don't see it being any different this weekend. "There's always a great atmosphere in both rinks and the games have been tight and they've had a little bit of everything. "I don't underestimate anyone and especially not the Nottingham Panthers. "You look at their roster and they players they have and they are more than capable of winning trophies this year and we're very aware of that."
