Cats capture experienced Krajicek

Swindon Wildcats have signed Czech-born defenceman Jan Krajicek.

Krajicek scored 48 points in 35 league games at Romford Raiders after joining the now-defunct club in mid-November.

Head coach Ryan Aldridge has hailed his third signing of the close season after Bracknell pair Joe Baird and Matt Foord as the league's "best defence man".

"Jan is by far the most gifted and most experienced defence man in the EPL, if not the country. He will bring what we need and a lot more," said Aldridge.

"He will be the quarter-back on the powerplay, something we did not have last year.

"Jan has size, skill, patience, a great shot and I am thoroughly delighted that he is on board for next season."

Krajicek has an impressive pedigree, including 10 years in the Czech Extraliga and spells with the British National League's Edinburgh Captials as well as the Elite League's Newcastle Vipers and Nottingham Panthers and the Premier League's Slough Jets.

The Cats have also confirmed that Jamie Hayes is leaving the club for Cardiff Devils in the Elite League.
