The Belfast Giants face an uphill task to make the final weekend of the season after losing the first leg of their play-off quarter-final at the Odyssey.

Wes Jarvis put the Devils ahead in the first period before Colin Shields equalised for Belfast from a powerplay.

Brad Both struck in the second period to give Cardiff the advantage going into the second leg, which takes place in Wales on Sunday.

It is only Cardiff's second win over the Giants in six meetings this season.
