Ryan Finnerty scored the winning goal against Coventry |
Sheffield Steelers defenceman Steve Munn has said Sunday's 2-1 victory at Coventry is a massive step towards winning the Elite League title. "It's a good piece of the puzzle. We're going to enjoy this win, we realise the magnitude of it," the 30-year-old Canadian told BBC Radio Sheffield. The Steelers remain 10 points clear at the top of the league. Munn said the title is not theirs yet: "If we don't get two points against Basingstoke it doesn't mean anything." The Steelers earned an important win at title rivals Coventry on Sunday with goals in the first five minutes from Joey Talbot and Ryan Finnerty. The Blaze fought back late in the game but met stubborn resistance from Jody Lehman. Steelers coach Dave Matsos was full of praise for his goaltender. "Jody was just unbeatable, the performance in Coventry was one of the best individual performances I think I have seen from a goalie," said Matsos. On Saturday, the Steelers secured a 6-2 home win over Edinburgh Capitals. Ashley Tait, Brad Cruickshank, Ryan Finnerty, Randy Dagenais, Jason Hewitt and Joey Talbot all got on the scoresheet.
