The Belfast Giants kept their Elite League title hopes alive by beating leaders Sheffield Steelers 4-3 in a thrilling match at the House of Steel. Two goals by Robert Dowd gave Sheffield a 2-0 lead but Bobby Robins and Evan Cheverie replied to level the match at 2-2 after the first period. Joe Talbot made it 3-2 to the Steelers in the third period. Paul Deniset and Giants player-coach Steve Thornton were on target in the final period to secure victory. The Giants now take a break from Elite League action as they face Coventry in the British Knockout Cup in Belfast on Tuesday night and then play the return leg on Wednesday evening.
