Two Giants matches for Dundonald

The Belfast Giants are to stage two competitive matches at Dundonald Ice Bowl on 13 January and 4 February.

The fixtures cannot be played at the normal Odyssey Arena venue as it has been booked for other events.

Both are against the Coventry Blaze, the first a British Knockout Cup game and the second a Challenge Cup clash.

Meanwhile, the Giants are in action on Thursday night (1930 GMT) with an Elite League clash against the Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey.

In the past, the Giants have used Dundalk as an alternative venue but for these games fans will not have to make the 50-mile journey south.

The Ice Bowl has a smaller capacity but is on the outskirts of Belfast and which makes it more convenient for faithful supporters.

"With no ice available at the Odyssey, we decided to schedule two games at Dundonald because they are both midweek and we believe this is the more convenient choice of the options available to us and for our fans," said Giants general manager Todd Kelman.

"The Odyssey is always my number one choice, but Dundonald is our training facility and we are there nearly every day."
