Steve Thornton's Giants team lie third in the Elite League

The Belfast Giants beat Cardiff Devils 4-2 on Thursday night to move to within six points of Elite League leaders Sheffield Steelers.

George Awada scored the first goal of the match but strikes from Brad Both and Wes Jarvis ensured that Cardiff enjoyed a 2-1 lead after two periods.

Goals from Colin Shields and Paul Deniset in the third period secured victory for Steve Thornton's outfit.

The Giants now face Sheffield in a crucial match on Sunday night.
