Steve Thornton's side needed penalties to defeat the Devils

The Belfast Giants defeated Cardiff Devils in a penalty shoot-out in Wales on Sunday night to continue their excellent start in the Elite League.

Jay Latulippe put the Devils ahead in the second minute but the vistors hit back with goals from Graeme walton and Paul Deniset.

Mike Prpicki equalised and Evan Cheverie restored Belfast's lead before Phil Hill made it 3-3 on 31 minutes.

The game went to penalties with the Giants coming through to win.
