Steve Thornton's Giants avenged Saturday night's defeat |
The Belfast Giants avenged Saturday night's 4-3 away defeat at the hands of Newcastle Vipers by winning 3-1 at the same venue on Sunday evening. Paul Deniset put the Giants ahead in the first period but Jeremy Lundin replied in the second period, with Mike Burgoyne then making it 2-1 to Belfast. Deniset scored again in the final period to confirm the Giants' victory. Bobby Robins, Tyler Howells and George Awada scored in Saturday's defeat as the Giants lost their unbeaten record. Burt Henderson, Rob Wilson, Todd Griffith and Derek Campbell found the net for the Vipers. Belfast had won their opening four Elite League fixtures so have now won five and lost one.
