Greg Owen scored a hat-trick as Great Britain closed on a World Championship medal by beating thrashing Holland 8-1 in their Division 1A game in Austria.

Victory over Kazakhstan will clinch at least a bronze, and silver should Austria win their last two games.

Owen scored in the sixth minute and Jonathan Phillips followed his lead.

Owen stretched Britain's lead in the 29th minute on the powerplay before three goals in as many minutes swept their opponents aside.

Britain have not won a medal since finishing runners-up in the 2001 tournament in Slovenia.
