Mick Kinane sent Peerless to the front with a late surge to see off Sundrop in the Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot at York. The 14-1 outsider, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, came from behind and eased past the long-time Godolphin leader in the final furlong.
Soviet Song, returning after a 263-day absence, made an encouraging comeback without threatening in third.
Kinane was clocking up his first victory of the 2005 Royal meeting.
Peeress won by two and a half lengths as Sundrop tired in the final stages.
