Day five: Royal Ascot at York
The fifth and final day of the historic Royal Ascot at York meeting saw the sprinters take the spotlight.

Cape of Good Hope, ridden by Michael Kinane, took the day's feature race, the six-furlong Golden Jubilee Stakes.

The 9-4 favourite Iffraj put in an impressive run to claim the Wokingham Stakes, one of the big betting races of the week, against 16 rivals.

Bandari, trained by Mark Johnston, won the Hardwicke Stakes after fighting out a tremendous finish with Maraahel.

Johnny Murtagh finished the Royal meeting on a high with victory on Cruzspiel in the final race, the Queen Alexandra Stakes.

The 10-1 shot denied Cover Up, ridden by Kieren Fallon a third success in the race after taking a definite advantage five furlongs out.

Dancing Bay, Al Eile and Cover Up all queued up to challenge and it was left to the latter to test James Fanshawe's runner in the final quarter-mile.

But Cruzspiel would not be denied and stayed on stoutly to win by a length and a quarter with the favourite Al Eile well beaten in third.

Notable Guest gave Mick Kinane a double on the day and his sixth victory of the meeting in the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes.

The four-year-old, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, put in a brave performance late on to outpace Kieren Fallon's mount Crow Wood in the final furlong with Rehearsal third and Blue Monday fourth.

2. Beckermet (R Ffrench) 16-1
3. Peter Paul Rubens (RL Moore) 13-2
4. Talbot Avenue (TE Durcan) 50-1
17 ran. Dist: 2, 2

The well-backed Iffraaj showed his class to win the hotly-contested Wokingham Stakes.

Iffraaj always travelled well on the stand side and when jockey Philip Robinson upped the pace on his mount inside the final two furlongs victory looked likely.

Although Beckermet and Royston Ffrench briefly challenged, Robinson urged his mount on to win .

1545 - Golden Jubilee Stakes (six furlongs)
1. Cape of Good Hope (MJ Kinane) 6-1
2. Galeota (RL Moore) 15-2
3. Belmont (C Soumillon) 9-2f

Cape of Good Hope gives Michael Kinane his fifth winner of the week with a superb run to take the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

The horse, trained in Hong Kong by David Oughton, relished the firm ground at York and won with a new course record time.

He was made fight all the way by Galeota after the pair got clear of the rest of the field.

The favourite Balmont, who was the subject of a big gamble, ran on well for third.

1505 - Hardwicke Stakes (one mile four furlongs)
1. Bandari (W Supple)10-1
2. Maraahel (R Hills) 4-1
3. Gamut (K Fallon) 100-30
6 ran. Dist: , 5

Bandari and jockey Willie Supple give Mark Johnston another win in the Hardwicke Stakes with a hard-fought victory.

Entering the home straight, Supple opted to stay on the far side rather than moving towards the stand side and the decision paid dividends as they held off the challenge of Maraahel.

Orcadian set a strong pace at the start but the remainder of field refused to panic and Bandari always looked well-placed.

Bandari and Maarahel drew away from the rest of the field in the final furlong and fought out a tremendous finish.

1430 - Windsor Castle Stakes (five furlongs)
1. Titus Alone (K Darley) 11-4
2. Strike Up The Band (A Nicholls) 11-10f
3. Tabaret (Dean McKeown) 10-1
9 ran. Dist: 1, 1

Titus Alone strikes late to get the better of the favourite Strike Up The Band in the opener on the final day of the meeting.

It was a third victory in a row for the winner and gave local trainer Bryan Smart a famous success.

Although Strike Up The Band, in his second run of the week, looked strong after taking the lead in the final furlong, Titus Alone showed determination to go ahead once again and hold on.

There was drama before the start when two horses - Charming Ballet and Great Chieftain were withdrawn after causing trouble at the stalls.
