Pivotal wins Stewards' Cup
Pivotal Point in action at Ascot
Pivotal Point lived up to his hefty market support with a storming Stewards' Cup victory at Glorious Goodwood on Saturday.

The Peter Makin-trained gelding, backed down to 7-1 co-favourite, was always to the fore in the six-furlong sprint.

Charging down the stands side under in-form jockey Seb Sanders, the horse won by one and a quarter lengths.

Fantasy Believer finished second, a neck ahead of High Reach, who both raced on the other side of the track.

Sanders said afterwards: "I had a beautiful run, I was always travelling very easily.

"He just wandered about a bit when I got there. I could have waited until 50 yards out - that's how easy I was going."

In the other big race of the day, Favourable Terms claimed victory by a whisker to earn Sir Michael Stoute his third successive Nassau Stakes win at Glorious Goodwood.

Stoute was successful in the Group One contest with Islington in 2002 and with Russian Rhythm last year.

Favourable Terms came out on top in a protracted duel with 6-4 favourite Chorist before Silence Is Golden came flying down the outside.

The filly prevailed by a short head, with Chorist a neck away in third.

Favourable Terms and Chorist came pretty close on the run-in and a stewards' inquiry was called, but the placings remained unaltered.

Stoute, who has now won the race seven times in total, said:

"We've won it with some very good ones, but she's a very admirable filly," he said.

"We've had a lot of problems with her back and sometimes that compromises her. We have the physios working on her all the time."
