2. Wee Dinns (J F Egan) 3-1

Cutting Crew, under the jockeyship of Darryll Holland, led from the front and kept gaining pace down the hill to secure a relatively comfortable victory.

Holland was claiming his second success of the meeting on the Peter Harris-trained winner, but the rider must sit out the action on Thursday because of a suspension.

1515 Cantor Odds Sussex Stakes (1m)
1. Soviet Song (J P Murtagh) 3-1
2. Nayyir (M J Kinane) 12-1
3. Le Vie Dei Colori (D Holland) 12-1

Soviet Song, trained by James Fanshawe and ridden by Johnny Murtagh, showed tremendous strength and tenacity to hold off a determined challenge from Nayyir.

The James Fanshawe-trained filly has now secured two successive Group One race victories.

The highly fancied Refuse To Bend seemed to be blocked by Checkit early on and never recovered.

1440 Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes (7f)
1. Shamardal (J Fanning) 8-13F
2. Wilko (E Ahern) 7-1
3. Fox (K Fallon) 10-1
10 ran. Dist: 2 , 1

Shamardal strode on comfortably after taking the lead early on - a good tactic from jockey Joe Fanning, keen to keep out of trouble in a rough race.

Mark Johnston's horse showed great balance and control to leave the rest of the field trailing and ease to a well-deserved victory.

1405 Goodwood Handicap Stakes (2m5f)
1. Alrida (P Hanagan) 11-2
2. Stance (R L Moore) 14-1
3. Distant Prospect (M Dwyer) 25-1

Paul Hanagan rides an almost-perfect race as Alrida holds off the challenge of Stance over the last half mile, to secure a smooth victory in the opening race.

The Richard Fahey-trained horse travelled strongly and hung on to the lead on the inside to justify strong market support.
