Reading Hockey Club hopeful of indoor success

Joyce's Reading team are currently seventh in the outdoor league

Reading will be at full strength for this year's indoor tournament, says skipper Rhys Joyce.

The National Indoor Championships begin this weekend in Bristol, with Reading's first match against Loughborough.

Joyce told BBC Berkshire: "England have factored in the club programme and they have the indoor world cup so the this forms a part of their preparation.

"So we're at full strength, with both of the Mantells, Jonty Clarke, Nick Brothers and Iain Mackay."

Reading have had an unusually poor start to the outdoor season and are currently seventh in the Premier Division.

"It's going to be difficult to finish first - East Grinstead are a long way ahead," said Joyce.

"But we're only a few points off the play-off places and play all the teams around us so it's in our control."

"If we play better in the second half of the season then we'll be in the play-offs," he added. "With the players we've got then I'm confident that we'd do well."
