Beckie Herbert has worked hard to retain her GB spot

Beckie Herbert has been selected for the Great Britain hockey team on their up coming tour of Argentina.

Herbert is part of a Great Britain team currently ranked seventh in the world and will face a strong Argentina side.

The GB team will play five tests against the world number two team beginning in Salta on December 12.

"Playing in Argentina is one of the most enjoyable experiences of an international career," Head coach Danny Kerry said.

"The crowds are several thousand in number with an amazing carnival atmosphere."

The last time the sides played was at the 2008 Olympic Games when Great Britain came back from 2-0 down at half time to draw 2-2.

Herbert was not part of the Olympic side but has been a regular of both the England and GB teams since then.

Head coach Danny Kerry said of Herbert: "Beckie is very hard working and makes things happen on the pitch.

"Beckie knows exactly what she needs to do to get in the team.

"We had spoken about specific parts of her game since the Champions Trophy in Australia earlier this year and she has been working tremendously hard on it."
