England will face China again on Sunday in a play-off

England completed the pool phase of the Women's Champions Trophy in Sydney by losing 4-1 to China.

Ma Yibo and Fu Baorong gave China an early advantage before Rebecca Herbert pulled a goal back for England.

But Song Qingling and Zhao Yudio put China out of reach and ensured England finished the pool phase in sixth spot.

The teams meet again in a fifth-place play-off on Sunday before England turn their attention towards the EuroHockey Nations Championships in August.

At that tournament in Amsterdam, England will be aiming for a top-four finish to secure automatic qualification for the 2010 World Cup.
