England are still looking for their first win at the women's Champions Trophy in Sydney after losing 3-1 to European champions Germany on Sunday.

Leicester's Chloe Rogers got England off to the perfect start from a penalty corner in the second minute.

However, Janine Beerman put Germany level before Fanny Rinne converted a penalty corner and Maike Stockel struck from open play to complete the win.

England's next match is against Argentina on Wednesday.

It was the second disappointment in two days for Danny Kerry's team, having conceded a late goal against the Netherlands to draw 2-2 on Saturday.

"Yesterday our players were beating the Dutch in the 50-50 balls and today against the Germans that wasn't the case and I felt that really made the difference," said Kerry.

Captain Kate Walsh added: "We're disappointed today.

"The game went away from us a bit in the second half but we still made some chances and this is all a process working towards the Europeans (in August in Amsterdam)."

Earlier on Sunday defending champions Argentina recorded their second win of the tournament with a 1-0 victory over hosts Australia, while the Netherlands followed up their draw with England with a 1-0 win over China.
