Bichard will compete for Great Britain at the Special Olympics |
Guernsey cyclist Jamie Bichard has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Special Olympics next year. The 25-year-old will be heading to Athens in June to compete in one of the world's largest sporting events. His father, John Bichard, told BBC Guernsey his son's preparations are now stepping up a gear. Bichard said: "He's cycling backwards and forwards from work and every time he goes out he takes the bike, so he's cycling around as much as he can." In 2009, Bichard won gold at the Special Olympics in Leicester, an experience which will stand him in good stead for Athens. His father said: "I just want him to go out there and to have fun and enjoy the games like he has done before. "Jamie's so looking forward to it, every day the conversation turns to Athens."
