 Le Maistre won gold with Jersey's LD Football 'A' team in Harrogate |
Footballer Ian Le Maistre has been voted JSAD Sports Personality of the Year 2010. As one of the goalkeepers for Jersey's Learning Difficulties football team, Le Maistre helped his side win gold at the annual Harrogate tournament. He's also taken part in the Jersey marathon relay, and is considered an excellent all-round sportsman. On a good night for LD football, Gary Norman won coach of the year, and his squad won the team award. Melissa Alves won the Endeavour award for the second time in three years, while James Brady took the Wheelchair Sports Person prize. Relative newcomers to Jersey disability sport, Matthew Hamon and Ryan Jones shared the Improved Swimmer of the Year award. All the winners received their trophies at the annual JSAD Disability Games awards night at the Merton Hotel.
