Norfolk was chasing a third US Open title
Britain's Peter Norfolk failed to defend his US Open quad singles title as he was beaten 6-0 2-6 6-3 by American David Wagner in New York. Wagner had raced through the first set on Sunday before the rain set in, but Norfolk began well as they resumed. He took a 3-1 lead in the second set and went 5-1 up before levelling the match with his fourth set point. The decider saw the momentum swing back to Wagner as he led 4-1, and he sealed victory in just under 90 minutes. It was the first time that Norfolk had finished runner-up at a Grand Slam tournament, and Wagner's first Grand Slam win.
