Para-Equestrian Dressage rider Simon Laurens from Birdlip in Gloucestershire has been given an award at the European Dressage and Jumping Championships.

The 41-year-old is one of six people whose efforts have been recognised with a medal of honour at Windsor.

"An award to recognise activities connected with international endeavour in relation to equestrian sport," is how the citation describes the medal.

Laurens has collected gold at European, world and Paralympic level since 2005.
