Laurens is now Olympic's bound |
Jersey dressage rider Simon Laurens has been selected to represent Great Britain at this summer's Paralympic Games in Hong Kong. Laurens, 40, took up riding as a child but has only competed at the elite level for three years. While he will be making his Paralympic debut, he won two gold medals at the 2007 world championships. Laurens, who will be riding Ocean Diamond at the Games said: "Im ecstatic and cant quite believe it." He added: "Since my first prelim competition two years ago to the world championships last summer its been an absolute whirlwind but this is the ultimate. "I always hoped that Ocean Diamond would be destined for Hong Kong, he's such a great little horse and really deserves to go."
