Leicester prepares for Special Olympics Special Olympics ambassador Lee Penfold hopes the people of Leicester will get behind the games when they come to the Walkers Stadium next month. Penfold, who also plays and coaches basketball, is excited at the prospect of his home city hosting the games. He said: "2700 athletes, 1500 volunteers and 1200 coaches will be coming, I would love it if we have 32,500 people to get behind us." As an ambassador for Special Olympics Leicester and Great Britain, the Hinckley-born athlete is keen to raise the profile of the games. He was part of Team Great Britain's basketball side that won silver at the Special Olympics in Shanghai in 2007.
